11 Jun Grenache du Monde 2021 awards Cavazza two gold medals
by Elisa Cavazza
Our company is extremely proud to have won two gold medals during the last edition of Grenache du Monde. Cavazza achieved the first “double top award” for a Colli Berici winery.
Grenache, Garnacha, Cannonau, Alicante, Bordò: these are only some of the grapevine’s names which here, in the Vicenza Colli Berici DOC appellation, the area where Cavazza is situated, we know and grow with the name Tai Rosso. Not much is known about its origins, but due to its adaptability and flexibility it has spread all over the Mediterranean wine growing areas: France, Italy, Portugal, but also farther afield in California, South Africa, Chile, Australia, to name just a few. In the hot territories of Spain, Garnacha gives a full-bodied, fruit-fuelled, age-worthy wine, which can be aged for over 15 years. While in areas having a Mediterranean climate, such as Sardinia, Cannonau is a medium-bodied, fruit-driven, less cellarable wine. In Vicenza, Tai Rosso is more approachable, tangy and minerally, with a well-rounded bouquet of cherry, raspberry, violet, wild rose and spices, velvety, polished tannins: the Cavazza Tai Rosso wines appropriately express this area of the Veneto region.
